GETTING READY FOR SURGERY
Surgery planning can be overwhelming and we can assist you with checklists so you are confident nothing is overlooked. Please ask our staff for assistance if required, they are more than happy to assist. Certain surgeries require pre-operative tests and investigations such as blood tests, ECGs or medical clearance and Dr Policinski will advise you if you require these.
Blood thinners, such as aspirin, Warfarin, Rivaroxaban, anti-inflammatories or even Fish oil need to be ceased before your surgery. Please let Dr Policinski or the staff know if you are taking anything that may increase your risk of bleeding.
Fasting (Fluid and Solid Foods) times vary depending on your time of surgery, you need to be 6 hour fasted before a general anaesthetic can be administered. The hospitals will call you the day before your operation and advise you on your fasting and admission times.
You will need someone to pick you up after the surgery, please make appropiate arragements beforehand.
